Five Minute Pep Talks

SCA’s podcast, Turia Pitt’s Pep Talk rolls out Monday to Friday with short and practical tips, tools, and anecdotes aimed to motivate and inspire listeners.

Turia Pitt knows better than most about getting through hard times. Her story of recovery and survival was well covered in the media after she received burns to 65 percent of her body. Pitt had been competing in a 100-kilometre ultramarathon through Western Australia's Kimberley region in 2011 when she became trapped in a large bush fire.

An inspirational woman, Pitt endured a painful but miraculous recovery and has become known for defying the odds.

In the podcast, she provides listeners with regular daily pep talks which are told through a story-telling lens, delivering support and advice to help others ‘to level up’ in the face of daily obstacles and challenges.

Other inspirational people featured in the series, include former Australian World Surfing Champion Layne Beachley, former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, Australian anaesthetist and cave diver Dr Richard Harris, and many others.

The series was designed to help listeners build daily habits to face obstacles and thrive - all in bite sized, five-minute episodes formulated for busy people who want to re-frame their mindset and get in a positive headspace.

“I believe that it’s not what your goal is, or how much you want it or even why you want it. All that counts is that you show up, and take that small step forward, every day, towards that goal,” Pitt says.

In overcoming challenges in her life, Pitt reinforces that it was as a result of small daily habits, rather than an overnight miracle.
