HER is Intimate and Engaging

Relationships are tricky at the best of times, but what if you wake up one day only to find yourself attracted to people of the same sex? That's the premise of Mamamia’s new podcast, Her, presented by entrepreneur, Sophie Cachia.

The first episode opens with Cachia revealing her own story through a tightly narrated script, with music that gently sways in and out, to set the tone.

Cachia’s life from the outside looks nothing but perfect, but when a sudden shift takes place, everything unravels, including her sense of identity, and what she knew to be ‘normal’.

As the podcast host, Cachia is engaging, and her experience also serves her well in an interview with Zara Cooper. Cachia asks all the right questions without overshadowing Cooper’s experience.

Cooper, like Cachia, has a similar story and shares what it was like to transition from being married and in a heterosexual relationship, to “unleashing the sexual demon” inside her when she found herself attracted to women for the very first time.

The simplicity of Her makes the content accessible with a quiet confidence that feels almost understated, and the first two episodes are enough to hook you in, regardless of your gender identity, or sexual orientation.

Despite the core topic and themes, Her feels universal, in that every single one of us will have asked ourselves questions about who we are, why we don’t fit in, or why we sometimes feel at odds with social norms and constructs.

Her is a six-part limited series, available through subscription.
