Aotearoa’s much loved musician and broadcaster Anika Moa now has her own podcast, It’s Personal with Anika Moa speaking to notable New Zealanders about life’s tough lessons and how they’ve coped with big challenges — all in an entertaining, emotional, and above all, personal series.

“I’m not a journalist, I’m a human sharing a conversation about someone’s life. Empathy is everything. There is some pretty serious kōrero, but we have some great laughs as well. I’m grateful to all my guests for being so open with me and I think people will really enjoy hearing something different about their lives than what we usually hear about. Mauri ora.”

The podcast reveals the multi-talented performer and broadcaster’s greatest gift – a remarkable ability to get people to tell her things, including comedian Tom Sainsbury who features as a guest.

“Anika is so hilarious but also so truthful and real, and she allows her interviewees to be real too. There's something very special about chatting with her on those armchairs.”

Check out a different side to Anika over 12 episodes in a series that tackles subjects like death and grieving with Casketeer Kaiora Tipene, being your authentic self with musician Jen Cloher and aging with actor Robyn Malcolm. Other guests include Chelsea Winstanley, Bella Kalolo, Anna Pillay, Guyon Espiner, Tami Neilson, Claire Chitham, Tom Sainsbury, Sophie Devine and Grace Palmer.

Check out the trailer.

The podcast is available as video and audio at rnz.co.nz/anika, YouTube and on podcast platforms from Friday 23 February.
